OHG athletes qualify to compete at national championships
Jessica Scott, Level 10, placed 8th All Around in the region and qualified to compete at Junior Olympic Women's National Championships in Orlando Florida. Elizabeth Cain, Level 9, placed 2nd on bars, 4th on beam and 4th All Around in the region and qualified to compete at the Level 9 Junior Olympic Women's Western Nationals in St. Louis, MO. Sarah Lyons, Level 9, placed 1st on beam, 3rd on vault, 4th on floor and 3rd All Around in the region and qualified to compete at the Level 9 Junior Olympic Women's Western Nationals in St. Louis, MO. Sam Greenberg, Level 9, placed 3rd in the region (see detailed results at right) and qualified to compete at the Junior Olympic Men's Gymnastics National Championships in Battle Creek, MI. Level 4 and Level 6 District Championships Level 6 Alyssa Tansey Jessica Gonzales Alex Terrazzas Aerial McCarty Alex Edmundson Gabriela Aguilar Congratulations to Alexandra Ozuna, age 9! Alexandra made TOPs National Team. She will attend a National Team Training Camp at the Women's National Training Center in Houston, Texas in December. Alexandra will also receive a TOPs warm up and leotard signifying her distinguished achievement. TOPs (Talent Opportunity Program), is USA Gymnastics' talent search and educational program for female gymnast ages 7-11 and their coaches. During the months of June and July gymnasts age 7-11 are evaluated on physical abilities at the state or regional level. From there, select athletes are invited to participate in the National TOP test that is conducted in the month of October where they are evaluated on the same physical abilities tests along with some basic gymnastics skills. Qualifying athletes are then invited to participate in the National TOP Training camp which takes place in December of each year. Dani attended the camp accompanied by her coaches Jeff Beal and Natalie McKee. It was quite an honor to be selected for this camp.
